The Bush Walk

Its another day where Tina, Cecilia and I feel energetic so, we are going to take a hike. We want to go somewhere where that is challenging to walk up like Kawau Island. We've decided where now we are off.
Riding on the ferry me and Tina decided that we are going to be Titanic. As we were act like Titanic we saw fins in the water. Tina shouted with frightness “AHHHHH” she screamed “WE’RE GOING TO DIE”. BUT... it as they jumped into the air we realized they were only DOLPHINS poor Tina, frighted by dolphins.
Finally we reached Kawau Island. Cecilia jumped out with happiness to be away from Auckland for the first time. As we unpacked our luggage into our cabin we thought we would start hiking the first thing tomorrow.
The next morning we ate our breakfast and filled our bottle of waters and off we headed with a map to show us where to go. After half an hour of walking a sudden movement flashed at the of our eyes. We thought we were just day dreaming so we just carried on walk.
Near the end of our hike, we heard a big roar. We turned our heads as big foot jumped at Tina. “AHHRGGGG” Tina yelled as bigfoot bit her head, Tina tried to fight back but she slapped her head and she went flying to the tree. “BOOM, BOOM, BOOM” the footsteps of bigfoot ran away.
Awhile later we  reached the end of our hike and Tinas head was dripping crazy. But we fixed it.
THE END

Muddy, Sandy, Rocky Tracks

Walking up to the starting line I had a ruffle feeling in my stomach. I had sweaty hands as we were having a little conversation with my friends. Now its time to run this muddy track I thought to myself as I was getting into my position.

“Ready”...”Set”...”BANG!”  goes the clapper’s . I jogged in a slow pace remembering the word that Mr Burt told us... “TAKE YOUR TIME”. Running pass the unbreathable farm I reached Miss King as she told me how beautiful I was looking and that she is keen to be in my beauty team.

Hustling in the slushy, sloppy mud I could feel the mud digging into my shoes, “AHHHHHHAAARRRR IM FINALLY HERE” I said as I was making my way to the bush walk. The feeling of my bare shoe’s on the rocky and sandy ground my feet began to lose weight. After all that exhaustion from through all that mud I finally escaped from it.

Just a few steps from Ms Squires I could see the Tamaki College gate and a few kids playing on their hard courts. After a while I could hear footsteps behind me and as I turned my head I saw the first 13 year old boy to pass me so I thought I need to speed up. A few minutes after I could hear Mr Jacobson talking through the microphone and that was a sign telling me I am nearly there. I finally got out of the bush walk passing Mr Barks by little river with the bridge.

Running my last lap I could feel the mud again but I didn’t care because I was nearly finish. The mud was soo heavy I could feel it take off my shoes. Suddenly my shoes slipped off so I quickly took off my sock’s and finished the challenging run. Passing by the finish line I could see some of my competitors at the tap washing off.

Washing off all the sloppy mud I had a smile as I thought to myself “I am sooo joyful that I participated my last Primary and Intermediate Cross country”.

Life Education Trust

This term we have been visiting harold and we have learnt loads of things about making choices. What I have learnt is that if you make choices it can lead you to consequences. I have heard and watched sad and bad things about people and the reason these things happen is because, they have chose to keep themselves unhealthy and have chose bad choices.
After all of the horrifying things I have learnt, I have chose to make the right choice and keep my body healthy. I hope that in the future I don’t change my mind about this because this is quite serious. Healthy and good choices is what I was born for.
So, start making good choices and keep ourselves healthy. If you want to live long live it good and, stay out of trouble.

Olympic Flag - Info

Do you know what the 5 rings on the Olympic Flag represent ?. Well the rings were introduced by Pierre de Coubertin. It was first presented in, 1914, at the  Paris, Congress. Pierre de Coubertin is said to have found the original five rings symbol engraved on an stone unearthed at Delphi.

Delphi is in Greece and is one of the most sacred places in the ancient world. Placed in the breathtaking surroundings by the false Mt. Parnassus it is still an enchanting site. The ancient Greek believed that Delphi was the centre of the world  and was told the future of kings and common men.

Reflections On My Favourite Place

This term we have been learning about art alive and my class has been talking about our favourite place. This story is going to tell you about my favourite place. I hope that you enjoy reading.

My favourite place is not really that exciting but it’s really a place to chill and that is the field. The field has everything to make me focused, the fresh air and the sweet sound of the outdoors.

The field is my special, place because it calms me down whenever I don’t feel happy. It is also my favourite place because sometimes when I have too many things to do,I just lay down in the green grass and relax. Its like I’m in paradise!.

I hope that my story has enough information for you. Please come back for more of my story’s. HAPPY HOLIDAYS HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT TERM.

Taonga Time

Did you know that us seniors have Taonga time? Well Taonga time is when we rotate around classes and we are given a task to do from that teacher. We have Tanga time every Friday after morning tea.
Last Friday I was told that I was in Mrs Langitupu’s class, but sadly she wasn’t here. Lucky we had a reliever. What we did when that reliever was, we filled out this form that had to do with planning our movie.
I can’t wait till this Friday because I really enjoy doing movies and that is what we are going to do with Mrs Langitupu. I really like that our teachers came up with the idea of this Taonga time.

Artistic Styles

Cubism

P1:
In the early 1900’s , some artists became interested in African and Native American art. The styles of those cultures inspired cubism.

P2:
- Cubism began in France 1907
- Pablo Picasso and George Braque began drawing figures that were made of cubes, spheres, cylinders, cones and other geometric shapes
- They looked looked liked some has cut them then put them back together

P3:
- The ancient Egyptians, cubists wanted to show the most important parts of the things they painted
-  Cubists wanted to show all the sides of an object in the same picture
-   In Picasso’s The Guitar Player, it is difficult to see the person in the painting

Fauvism

P1:
- Fauvism is the style of les Fauves (French for "the wild beasts"). a short-lived and loose group of early twentieth-century Modern artists whose works emphasized painterly qualities and strong color over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism.  The leaders of the movement were Henri Matisse and Andre Derain.

P2:
-  Joyful style of modern art developed by Henri Matisse and Andre Derain
- Fauvism was the first of the avant-garde movements that flourished in France in the early years of the twentieth century
- Between 1901 and 1906, several comprehensive exhibitions were held in Paris

P3:
- Fauvism was a short-lived movement, lasting only as long as its originator, Henri Matisse (1869-1954), fought to find the artistic freedom he needed.
- Matisse had to make color serve his art, rather as Gauguin needed to paint the sand pink to express an emotion. The Fauvists believed absolutely in color as an emotional force.
- They astonished viewers at the 1905 Salon d'Automne: the art critic Louis Vauxcelles saw their bold paintings surrounding a conventional sculpture of a young boy, and remarked that it was like a Donatello ``parmi les fauves'' (among the wild beasts).

Impressionist
P1:
Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement that originated with a group of Paris-based artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870s and 1880s in spite of harsh opposition from the art community in France. The name of the style is derived from the title of a Claude Monet work, Impression, soleil levant, which provoked the critic Louis Leroy to coin the term in a satiric review published in the Parisian newspaper Le Charivari.

P2:
- Paintings include relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes
- Emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities
- Common, ordinary subject matter; the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience

P3:
- The development of Impressionism in the visual arts was soon followed by analogous styles in other media which became known as Impressionist music and Impressionist literature.
- The Impressionists ignited a revolution with an explosion of color and movement.
- Their vibrant canvases confounded critics, defied conventions and sparked scandal. A century and a half later, they are among the most revered and influential artists of all time.

Camp Highlight

On the 11th of march 2012 the year 7&8 students had their first camp for that year and it turned out great. On that morning they had already been packed and ready to go. I just could not wait to get to camp.
My highlight for camp was going to swimaramer because we actually got to see the warriors in real life. So that means, that day was the best day of my life. I really wanted to see Kevin Locke in the pool but, he was sick :( that is so sad.
My no-light for camp was, going to Mr Harris because we played this game that had to do with eggs. We had to chuck the egg to our partner and every time we catch it we move back. The last catch I did catch it but it cracked on my arm, “YUCK”. I wish that we went to Swim-Arama.
Finally we had the oppurtunity to go and have a swim at Swim-Arama and right now I wish that we were still at Swim-Arama . It was time to get out of the pool.

Netball With Lizz

Have you attended a sport called Netball?... Well on the 9th of February out on the Pt England courts, room 22 year 7&8 attended this sport with a New Zealand trainer called Liz. I had tuns of laughing moment then.
After following the instructions our first activity had to do with passing. The first kind of passing we did was chest passing. When you chest pass you have to pass from your chest. Our next passing was bounce passing.
Our next activity was, jumping over mini hurdles. What we had to do was line up, when we get passed the ball we had to run and jump the mini hurdle then land on two feet, then pivot and pass to the person across you. We did that for about 4 times.
The Last activity before our game, we had to do with grabbing a partner and you had to go in a zig zag pattern. All you had to do was pass the ball, once that person has moved. That activity wasn’t really fun.
Finally we had a game and it was bib’s playing against non bib’s. We really had a fun time even tough we did stepping with the ball and, step out of the court’s. I am looking forward for our third session.
